PROJECT INFORMATION
Nestled in the heart of Downtown Nanaimo, Diana Krall Plaza (DKP) is a vital public space for the Nanaimo community and has the potential to be a center for gathering and activity.
Re-Envision Diana Krall Plaza is a design review of the Plaza to guide the City of Nanaimo in a re-thinking process of how Diana Krall Plaza can be transformed into an attractive and vibrant public plaza. This project has involved a collaboration of community members, downtown organizations and businesses, Vancouver Island University’s Masters of Community Planning Program staff and students, City of Nanaimo and is led by a volunteer urban designer, together forming DKP Advisory Steering Committee. Together over the past 18 months, the committee has implemented a re-design process. Now, with COVID lockdown behind us, the committee is seeking additional community input to finalize a re-design concept for the plaza.
This website has been created to seek your input on the work completed to date. The website will be used to collect public feedback so that a final concept informed by public feedback can be designed and presented to the Mayor and Council. It is hoped that Re-Envision Diana Krall Plaza will provide a framework for long-term redevelopment of the Plaza, including programming ideas that will help create a vibrant and enjoyable central downtown plaza.
There are three opportunities to provide your feedback. Please review the website portal and offer your thoughts. We look forward to your feedback!
